ABOUT US
From Our Family to Yours...
Relating to the needs of area families takes a special kind of
understanding; one which is nurtured over years of knowing what
is most important. At BAUMANN COLONIAL CHAPEL, our understanding
of family care comes from three generations working together,
growing up with our community, and responding to each family's
needs as if they were our own. We are committed to total care,
from our family to yours.
Family Owned and Operated Since
1880
BAUMANN COLONIAL CHAPEL was moved to its present location in
Overland,
Missouri by Gus and John Baumann in 1923. Their father, A. S.
Baumann had a hardware store, livery stable and undertaking establishment
in Creve Couer that was established in 1880. Gus and his wife
Aurealia became the sole owners of the business in 1928. Gus died
in 1969 and Aurealia sold the business to her embalmer, Donald
Jensen in 1977. The current President, Mitchell Wilson began working
at the funeral home in 1985. Mitch is active in the Rotary Club
of Overland, Northwest Chamber of Commerce, St. Louis Area Council
Cub Souts, Immanuel Lutheran Church in Olivette, and many other
civic and community affairs.
The funeral home is the oldest funeral home in the northwest
area of St. Louis County. There have been many additions to the
facility and property
through the years.
The
funeral home currently has ample off-street parking, a large chapel
which can seat up to 400, three visitation rooms, a large lounge
and restrooms on each level. The decor and atmosphere of the funeral
home is elegant but comfortable - not stuffy or ostentatious as
found in many of the newer funeral homes.
